Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Saturday said perpetrators of crimes against women would be punished as per strictest provisions of law and added that the two arrested accused in the shocking twin train rape-and-murder case will be tried in a fast-track court.
The Assam Chief Minister also added that he has directed police to submit the charge-sheet in the case in quickest-possible time to ensure that the victim families get speedy justice.

Meanwhile, Assam Social Welfare Minister Pramilarani Brahma and Power Minister Topon Gogoi visited the family of the young college victim, expressed their condolences and assured them of a speedy trial and all-possible support to ensure that they get justice. The two ministers further claimed they will take up the issue of providing a job for a member of the family in the railways with railway officials.
“It’s a very unfortunate incident. We offered our condolences to the bereaved family members. The perpetrators of the crimes will be punished as per strictest provisions of the law. We will also take up the issue of providing a job for a member of the family with railway officials,” the two ministers said.
