GUWAHATI, Jan 5: More than 500 animals, including many birds, were killed in a fire that broke out at a shopping centre housing a pet shop in Northwest Dallas, USA, reports said.
Dallas Animal Services said they removed 579 dead animals from the exotic pet shop inside the Plaza Latina Bazaar, a shopping centre in Northwest Dallas, after the massive blaze ripped through the shopping centre.
Reports quoting rescue officials stated that all the animals succumbed to smoke inhalation during the blaze.
The fire, reports further stated, was intense and took nearly two hours to be extinguished with a total of 45 rescue personnel deployed in the operation.
Three individuals who were inside the building during the fire escaped safely without injuries.
“It is a regrettable situation that we had this morning. We ask for your prayers for all the families who work here, hoping to be back firmly, to give them the attention that (your) family deserve,” Plaza Latina Bazaar shared on its Facebook page.
