GUWAHATI, Oct 12: In another shocking, a petty trader was injured after he was fired at from close range by two motorcycle-borne gunmen near the Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati this evening. Jiarul Islam, hailing from Barpeta district who owns a scrapyard in Guwahati, was fired at by two persons who came with the intention of robbing him.
Islam, who received a bullet injury on one of his legs, was rushed to the GMCH. He is reportedly out of danger, Guwahati Commissioner of Police Deepak Kumar said.
“The incident took place around 6:30 pm when two persons came to the victim and demanded money from him. When he refused, one of them fired at his legs. He has been admitted to GMCH and is out of danger. We are probing the inciden, Kumar said.
The incident come after the cashier of a shop was shot dead by unknown assailants at Kumarpara. The perpetrators, incidentally, are still on the run.
