The Assam Government Saturday (May 11) announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of Jamiruddin Tapadar who died in the group clash and subsequent violence in Hailakandi on Friday. Tapadar was injured in the clashs and succumbed to his injuries at Silchar Medical College later in the evening.
On the other hand, the government has also announced a financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to the nine persons who were injured in the clashes and violence.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has already announced a probe into the violence. Additional Chief Secretary Rajiv Bora has been asked to conduct an inquiry and submit a report to the chief minister.
On the other hand, Assam Forest and Excise minister Parimal Suklabaidya, ADGP Mukesh Agarwalla and Barak Valley Commissioner Anwaruddin Choudhury are camping in Hailakandi in the wake of the violence.
