Manchester City defended their Premier League title pipping Liverpool FC by a point in what had been an incredible season for the two clubs. The title race went down to the wire as the two teams were separated by just one point till the final match day.
Manchester City needed to win against Brighton & Hove Albion to keep Liverpool, who were playing Wolves at home, away from the title. Although Brighton took the lead through Glenn Murray in the 27th minute, City bounced back and won 4-1 with goals from Sergio Aguero (28), Laporte (38), Mahrez (68) and Gundogan (72).
With the victory against Brighton, Manchester City finished with 98 points from 38 matches while Liverpool, who beat Wolves 2-0 at Anfield, ended their incredible campaign with 97 points.

On the other hand, Chelsea and Tottenham finished third and fourth respectively and secured the remaining two Champions League spots.
Arsenal finished fifth to secure a berth in the Europa League group stage while Manchester United, who lost their last match of the campaign against Cardiff at home, were sixth with 66 points and qualified for the Europa League qualifiers.
Cardiff City, Fulham and Huddersfield were relegated from the Premiere League for the next season after the finished 18th, 19th and 20th respectively.
