GUWAHATI: Ahead of prime minister Narendra Modi’s visit, Kokrajhar was illuminated with 70 thousand earthen lamps on Thursday evening as a mark of respect to the prime minister Narendra Modi.
The residents of the district expressed their thankfulness to the prime minister with lighting 70 thousand earthen lamps.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Kokrajhar today to celebrate the signing of historic Bodo Peace Accord.
Retweeting a Tweet of Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, PM Modi wrote in Twitter, “Lovely and lively! Gratitude to my sisters and brothers of Kokrajhar.”

Meanwhile, All Bodo Students’ Union took out massive bike rallies in various districts to express gratitude for signing the agreement.
Troupes of artistes are also busy to accord prime minister Narendra Modi a grand welcome upon his arrival.
He will be greeted with traditional Bodo dances and songs.

On the other hand, people in large number donning traditional Bodo attire have started to gather the venue from the wee hours today.
Tens of thousands have gathered at Khergaon-Tengapara to witness the historic moment.
