1650 NDFB cadres lay down arms in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Around 1650 leaders and cadres belonging to all the four factions of National Democratic Front of Bodoland formally laid down arms at a function in Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.

NDFB leaders Ranjan Daimary, Gobinda Basumatary, Dhiren Bodo and  B. Saoraigwra laid down their arms in presence of Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, health and finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, director general of Assam Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, officers of 4 Corps of Indian Army and Bodoland Territorial Council chief Hagrama Mohilary.

The NDFB leaders and cadres handed over a total of 178 weapons including 14 grenades, 2 mortars, several AK series rifles, Self Loading Rifles (SLR), American M-16, American M-16 with grenade launcher and 4803 live rounds.

Speaking on the occasion, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary said, “This accord is not only for Bodos, but it will ensure the development of all the communities of BTC. There will be no division among us. We will work together.”
