GUWAHATI: June 14 is celebrated as World Blood Donor Day every year across the world to raise awareness about safe blood donations and to thank all those who voluntarily donate blood.
The day is celebrated across the world to mark the birth anniversary of Karl Landsteiner, a scientist, who won the Nobel Prize for for his discovery of the ABO blood group system.
Every year there is a theme made for the day and this year’s World Blood Donor Day theme is ”Safe blood saves lives” with the tagline ”Give blood and make the world a healthier place”.
