GUWAHATI, Oct 29: Two Royal Bengal tigers were spotted at Hatimura near Jakhalabandha in Assam’s Nagaon district leading to panic among villagers.
The tigers were spotted near a semi-forested area which locals used to graze their cattle.
People said the tigers could have strayed into the area to devour cattle and other prey.
Although forest officials were informed about the presence of the tigers, no significant measures were taken to cage the two big cats.
Incidentally, the tigers have repeatedly ventured into areas of human habitation in many areas of Kaliabor, including Silghat and its adjoining localities, in the past several months.
Local residents say they feel insecure over the tigers entering villages and demanded of the Forest department to take up measures to capture the big cats.
