GUWAHATI, April 3: Morigaon Police have arrested three youths who were caught on camera performing car stunts in the middle of the busy road connecting Morigaon town with Nagaon.

The three youths — identified as Bubul Hussain, Sahil Ahmed and Sahabul Haque — were on Wednesday detained after videos of them driving the car (bearing registration number AS-02-AG-0261) dangerously through the middle of the busy road went viral on social media with netizens asking police and the administration to take action against such errant youths.

The video showed two of the youths hanging themselves out from the rear windows of the car while the third person, who was driving the SUV, zig-zagged the car through the busy street which was also being used by other cars, two-wheelers, bicycle riders and pedestrians to reach to their destinations.

The car was registered in the name of a person called Burhanuddin, who, News Live, has learnt, is an engineer employed with PWD.

Meanwhile, another video has also gone viral which showed another group of youths, numbering around 20, riding two-wheelers without wearing helmets and zig-zagging their two-wheelers with loud music blaring on mobile phones.

Both videos were apparently shot on the day Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated or a day later.

The incident of the three youths performing dangerous car stunt in Morigaon and their subsequent arrest comes days after three college students — Raj Malakar, Fardin Hussain Choudhury and Kavya Pallav Barua — were taken into custody after a video of them performing car stunts standing atop a moving car.

Raj Malakar was seen standing atop the car smoking a cigarette while Kavya Palav was hanging himself out from an open front door. Fardin, police said, was on the drivers seat.

Netizens and conscious sections of the society expressed shock and dismay over rising incidents of youths performing car and bike stunts in public streets thereby not only playing with their lives but also posing a threat to the lives of countless others.
