MUMBAI: Popular Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor died on Thursday. The veteran actor who was battling with cancer was seen for the last time in ‘The Body’, a thriller movie released in 2019. It was the last movie of the actor who made his debut in Bollywood from Mera Naam Joker and Bobby as a lead actor.

Along with Kapoor, Emraan Hashmi, Sobhita Dhulipala and Vedhika acted in the film. It is the official remake of a 2012 Spanish film The Body, which was already remade unofficially as bilingual films in Kannada and Tamil languages as Game in Kannada (Oru Melliya Kodu in Tamil) in 2016.

Rishi Kapoor acted as as SP Jairaj Rawal in the movie.

His first full-scale role was in his father’s Mera Naam Joker in 1970. When filming began in 1968, Rishi Kapoor was 16, and was recruited to play the younger version of Raj Kapoor’s character Raju, a circus clown. As a schoolboy, the tubby Raju has a crush on his svelte teacher Mary (Simi Garewal). Rishi Kapoor’s performance won him the National Film Award for Best Child Artist.

In the coming years, Kapoor sealed his reputation as the ideal lover boy, resulting in such popular romances as Hum Kisise Kum Naheen (1977), Laila Majnu (1976), Sargam (1979) and Prem Rog (1982).
