Guwahati: Guwahati achieved the distinction of registering not even a single accident on Friday night, a development which has come after Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma appealed to the public for restraint and issued instructions to the administration to take appropriate action to prevent mishaps which used to occur routinely as a result of revelry to mark New Year’s Eve.
To look into the operations carried out by the Assam Police on drink and drive case, Chief Minister Sarma took stock of the drive in Guwahati on Saturday (December 31 night.
CM Sarma visited Guwahati Club, Ulubari, Bhangagarh, Chandmari, Zoo road and Ganeshguri to review the drive initiated by the government to prevent accident cases.
And the netizens loved the effort of Chief Minister Sarma in taking the initiative by himself and coming on the roads of Guwahati on Friday night to boost the morale of police and transport department personnel who were on duty to curb traffic violations.
