Tezpur: Two dead, 3 seriously injured in wild buffalo attack

Efforts are underway to tranquilise the wild buffalo which is taking shelter at Polo Field Bamungaon locality of Tezpur

Two dead in wild buffalo attack in Tezpur: Two persons were killed and three others seriously injured after they were attacked by a wild buffalo in separate incidents in Tezpur town on Monday.

The wild buffalo first attacked a man at Tezpur Jahazghat. The person, identified as Dharkan Das, was rushed to Kanaklata Civil Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by doctors.

On the other hand, another person named Bhojan Gop (70), who was seriously injured after he was attacked by the wild buffalo when he and another person named Rongili Choudhury (67) had ventured out of their home, died at Tezpur Medical College Hospital (TMCH).

Rongili Choudhury was also injured after he was attacked by the wild buffalo is presently undergoing treatment at TMCH.

Two other persons — Pradip Bhoumik (64) and Apu Rai (35) — were also injured after the buffalo attacked them at Nepalipatty locality of the town while they were travelling in an e-rickshaw.

Efforts are underway to tranquilise the wild buffalo which is presently taking shelter at Polo Field Bamungaon locality.
