Tarun Gogoi not Chief Ministerial candidate in 2021

PUBLISHED:

GUWAHATI: Though former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi will contest assembly elections in 2021, he is not going to be the chief ministerial candidate of the Congress-AIUDF alliance.

“I will contest elections. But I have kept saying that I am not going to be the chief minister,” Gogoi clarified on Saturday.

He also dismissed any possibility of his son Gaurav Gogoi becoming the CM  aspirant in 2021.

The Congress veteran further said that he would quit politics if Congress-AIUDF alliance gets less than 35 seats in the upcoming assembly elections. Gogoi also promised to retire from politics if BJP can win 100 constituencies as the saffron party sets a target of 100 for the assembly elections.
