GUWAHATI: “Tarun Gogoi loved me a lot. We had a family relationship,” said All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) supremo Maulana Badruddin Ajmal.
Aghast with the demise of the former chief minister, a sobbing Ajmal said that they had shared a very cordial relationship.
“Even after the closed-door meetings, when everyone left, he urged me to stay with him to talk to him. We had a family relation,” Badruddin Ajmal said.
The AIUDF supremo also stated that during the 15-year-reign of Tarun Gogoi, the pace of development in Assam reached its peak.
“He provided security, he solved the insurgent issue. He developed the road infrastructure as well as educational sector. Therefore, Gogoi will be remembered forever,” Badruddin Ajmal said.
Ajmal also expressed his interest to publish a biography on Tarun Gogoi on behalf of Ajmal Foundation.
Ahead of 2021 assembly elections, Tarun Gogoi played an instrumental role in forging an alliance of Congress with Badruddin Ajmal’s AIUDF.
Ajmal visited Gogoi several times at the hospital.
