Suspected crude ‘bombs’ recovered in Chaygaon


Guwahati:  Assam Police on Wednesday recovered four crude ‘bombs’ in Panikhaiti area of Chaygaon, Kamrup.

According to police officials the locals spotted a suspicious package in the morning hours and immediately informed the police about it.

For the time being the suspected explosives have been taken to the Barhanti reserve in the Kukurmara region to avoid any eventuality.

According to the locals, a resident of Panikhaiti identified as Budheshwar Choudhury and his wife Rekha Choudhury were brutally attacked by five miscreants with sharp weapons and a pistol. As the locals came to save the family the miscreants left behind a bag containing explosives and rode off on a motorcycle. The locals tried chasing the miscreants but couldn’t get hold of them.

The incident has created panic among the locals and investigation is currently underway.
