Sushant Singh Rajput suicide: Rhea Chakraborty records her statement


Guwahati: Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on June 14. He was 34 years old. Sushant’s death has raised a lot of questions on the film industry’s functioning and the treatment that young actors get from Bollywood biggies.

The Bandra Police, who is investigating the matter, has recorded statements of 11 people, including Sushant’s father, his sisters, his close friend Mahesh Chhabra and more, in connection with the actor’s suicide.

Now, Rhea Chakraborty has recorded her statement. Rhea arrived at the Bandra police station, accompanied by two people. She met the Senior Police Inspector Nikhil Kapse and ACP Dattatray Bhargude. After an hour, she was taken to the Investigation Officer’s cabin where she recorded her statement.

The police is presently trying to find out the reasons behind Sushant’s suicide. The late actor’s father and three sisters didn’t make any complaints regarding anyone to police when they recorded their statements. The provisional postmortem report also didn’t reveal any foul play. The report stated that Sushant’s cause of death was asphyxia due to hanging.

Rhea is the 12th person to be questioned in the case. Being Sushant’s close friend, Rhea’s statement is very crucial as she can share details on what was going on in his personal life. One of the last calls that Sushant had made was to Rhea, which went unanswered.

Casting director Mukesh Chhabra, Sushant’s close friend, was also called for a statement by the Bandra police yesterday (June 17). The last film that Sushant acted in, titled Dil Bechara, was directed by Mukesh. It also stars Saif Ali Khan and Sanjana Sanghi. The film was set to release on May 8 this year, but due to the lockdown, the makers were planning for a digital premiere instead.

In the satement, Mukesh said that he made Dil Bechara with Sushant. He shared cordial relations with him. He didn’t say anything regarding the late actor’s health. Sushant would discuss scripts offered to him with Mukesh. Mukesh said that Sushant wasn’t a phone-friendly person and played video games on his play station and was interested in astronomy. Mukesh also said that Sushant wouldn’t answer his phone when he was engrossed in reading, astronomy, or playing video games. On May 27, Sushant spoke to Mukesh over phone to wish him on his birthday.

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Monday said that the police will investigate all angles pertaining to Sushant’s suicide. They will also investigate actor’s professional rivalry brought to light by the media.

Sushant was battling depression for the past six months. On June 14, he was found dead at his Bandra home in Mumbai.Sushant was last seen on the big screen in the 2019 film Chhichhore.
