Guwahati: Former England cricket captain Kevin Pietersen, after retiring from cricket, has involved himself in raising awareness on conservation of rhino. Pietersen is in Kaziranga National Prak, Assam busy shooting for his documentary on the one-horned rhino.

On Wednesday speaking to the media Pietersen said, “Kaziranga National Park is sensational and absolutely gorgeous. Seeing so many Rhinos here is a matter of delight. My passion is conservation of Rhinos, and here in India the success story of Kaziranga in conservation of Rhinos is incredible. A few years back the number of Rhinos was around 50 and now when you see here it’s thriving in Kaziranga. Hats off to the people here who are working for the conversation of rhinos in Kaziranga”.

Pietersen also added, “Over the past two weeks I have learnt that everybody in Assam loves the rhino and it’s heartwarming to see so much love for a particular animal. Everybody here understands the value of the animal and they protect and serve the animal with sheer dedication. Being the state animal of Assam, rhino as a symbol is used everywhere and it’s very special”.
