Student from Meghalaya who visited Guwahati zoo goes missing ~ Sensation prevails in Guwahati after a student from Meghalaya, who has been taking coaching classes at an institute in the State capital city, went missing from the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Gardens premises on Thursday, sending officials into a tizzy.
The 22-year-old youth named BM Bothmit from Meghalaya had come to the Guwahati Zoo at around 3:30 pm. CCTV visuals showed him entering the zoo but nothing is known as to whether he went out through the normal exit since there are no CCTV cameras to monitor the exit route.
The youth was seen in the CCTV visuals wearing a cap, gloves and with a bandanna on his face.
Zoo authorities launched a search after the youth was reported missing but he could not be traced.
Incidentally, zoo authorities recovered his bag, a cap and a shoe believed to belong to the missing person from inside the zoo complex although he remains traceless till the time of filing of this report.
“We came to know about the missing person. He was spotted entering the zoo complex at around 3:30 pm. CCTV visuals showed him entering the zoo wearing a cap, gloves and a bandanna covering his face. We have recovered a cap, mask, a single shoe and his bag. We launched a search using sniffer dogs last night but he could not be found. We hope that he might have left through the exit but since the exit is not under CCTV survailance, we cannot confirm it,” State Zoo DFO Ashwini Kumar told News Live.
Zoo authorities have lodged a missing complaint at Geetanagar Police Station and efforts are way to establish the missing youth’s whereabouts.
