The 2% DA hike will come into retrospective effect from Jan 1, 2025, CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma announced today
GUWAHATI, April 4: The Assam Cabinet has approved a 2% DA hike for State Government employees and pensioners.
Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma announced about the cabinet’s approval for the 2% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA).
The DA hike, he further announced, will come into retrospective effect from January 1, 2025.
The State Government had in October last year raised Dearness Allowance of its employees and pensioners by 3% which came into retrospective effect from July, 2024, Chief Minister Dr Sarma had then announced.
Following today’s hike, the dearness allowance of State government employees and pensioners will increase from 53% to 55%, equivalent to what their central government counterparts are being paid.
The hike in DA of State government employees and pensioners comes after the Union Cabinet on March 28 approved a 2% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees and pensioners.
Following the revision, the DA of central government employees and pensioners rose from the existing 53% to 55%, which will mean a hike in salaries of employees.
