The Assam government is all set to publish the second and final draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) on July 30. State NRC officials said today (July 25) that the final draft will be published on July 30 during the day and that names of a total of 3.3 crore residents will be enlisted in the draft citizens’ register.
NRC state coordinator Prateek Hajela said people can check their names in the draft NRC through four different ways: by personally visiting NRC Sewa Kendras, through websites and also via SMSes.

The MHA has also asked the Assam Government to set up a State-level coordination committee under the chairmanship of the chief secretary to ensure coordination among State agencies, NRC authorities and other central agencies.
Incidentally, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had earlier allayed fears claiming that there is no need for people to panic even if they do not find their names in the draft NRC since they can go for claims and objections.
