While Hima, who hails from Kandhulimari village in Dhing in Nagaon district and is now fondly called ‘Assam Express’, won the gold in the women’s 4×400 metres, the silvers came in the women’s 400 metres individual sprint and the 4×400 metres mixed relay.

Prior to the Asiad, the ace sprinter had created history by becoming the first India to win a track gold in the IAAF World Under-20 Athletics tournament at Tampere in Finland. Since then, she has been bettering her timing in the quarter-mile event as she set new national records, twice in two days, in the women’s 400 metres race.
