The speeding truck plunged into the Brahmaputra after it lost control while crossing the old Koliabhomora Bridge in Tezpur
Truck falls off Koliabhomora Bridge, plunges into Brahmaputra: A speeding truck veered off the old Koliabhomora in Tezpur and plunged into the Brahmaputra river on Thursday (May 15) afternoon.
The vehicle was coming towards Kaliabor from Tezpur and rammed into the concrete railings after losing control before plunging into the Brahmaputra.
The bodies of two person, believed to be that of the driver and the handyman, have been recovered from inside the truck by rescue team of the SDRF which was pressed into service after the accident was reported.
Videos showd the large truck, probably a trailer, floating in the water.
Efforts were underway to rescue any other people who might have been trapped inside the truck.
It is not known as to how many persons were inside the vehicle when the accident took place. Other details of the truck or its owner is also not known till the filing of this report.
