Guwahati: Students of Cotton University, Guwahati can now avail a special free bus service that has been revived after a brief period of time.
A 34-seater non AC Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) bus was officially launched for the students of Cotton University on October 15th, 2019. The bus will move on a single route on an experimental basis for 6 months.
According to the university authorities, this initiative will be on experimental basis and in the near future they will plan to increase the number of the buses.
The bus service was launched in the presence of of Bhabesh Chandra Goswami, Cotton University VC, Registrar Diganta Kumar Das, other college staff and students.
“Earlier we had bus services, but it was not successful due to some technical faults. This time with the help of Vice-chancellor sir and the students union we have been able to revive the services on board and we are hopeful that the students will be benefited” said Rahul General Secretary, Cotton University Students’ Union
He also added that this bus service is an experimental basis for six months from October 15th, 2019 to April 14th, 2020.
For now the bus will cover Bhangagarh-Ganeshguri-DHE office-Kahilipara-Betkuchi-Lalganesh-Paltanbazar-Panbazar-Bharalu-Maligaon-Adabari -Jalukbari-GU, Guwahati Club-Ulubari-Ganeshguri-Last Gate-6 Mile- GCC and Chandmari.
