GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday appreciated local youths at Chowkighat in Sonitpur district for taking up farming in over 700 bighas of land which have been recently cleared from encroachment, using tractors given under Chief Minister’s Samagra GramyaUnnayan Yojana (CMSGUY). Visiting the area, Sonowal lauded the initiative of the youths for their great determination. He was accompanied by local MLA Padma Hazarika and Hrishikesh Goswami, media adviser to CM.
CM Sonowal also took the driving seat of a tractor which has been distributed under CMSGUY.
On the other hand, Sonowal also visited the Borpukhuri Farm at Karsontala where farmers have initiated an economic revolution from dairy farming.
“They are role models of PM Narendra Modi’s vision of doubling farm income by 2022,” the chief minister added.
