Some restrictions in Assam to continue till August 15

GUWAHATI: Though the union home ministry issued new guidelines for Unlock 3 with several relaxations on Wednesday, the Assam government has been mulling over to continue with some restrictions till August 15 to arrest the chain of COVID-19.

Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma told media persons in Guwahti that Assam will be between lockdown and unlock till August 15.

He stated that COVID-19 situation in Assam has been gradually improving. So the government doesn’t want it to go out of control.

However, the final decision for the next course of action will be taken at a meeting on August 2.

As of now, the COVID-19 tally in the state stands at 38407 with 9230 active cases. While, 29082 patients have recovered, 94 deaths have been reported so far.
