‘Sky isn’t the limit, but just the beginning…’ Vistara bids goodbye before Air India merger

GUWAHATI, Nov 11: “As the plane ascends, so do our dreams; let’s glide toward the future, where the sky isn’t the limit, but just the beginning,” read an Air Vistara post on its social media handles as the airlines bid adieu to the skies before its merger with Air India.

Vistara started operations on Jan 9, 2015, as a joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines and will be merged with Air India from tomorrow (Nov 12).

The merger is a strategic decision by the Tata Group and brings together two giants of Indian aviation with Air India becoming the country’s sole full-service carrier.

Post merger with Air India (which is now being owned by the Tata Group), Singapore Airlines will continue to retain a 25.1% stake in the airlines.

Meanwhile, the carrier said despite a change in its branding, the overall service and onboard experience will be largely unchanged.
