Central team to visit Assam to assess flood situation on Aug 26

GUWAHATI: A six-member central team will reach Assam on Wednesday to assess the flood situation in the state, reported All India Radio.

The team will visit the affected areas, AIR reported quoting commissioner and secretary to the revenue department M S Manivannan.

He said that the Assam government had sent interim flood damage report to the centre and sought around Rs. 2300 crore to compensate floods damage.

Manivannan said that flood water also caused huge damages to the infrastructure including roads, bridges and embankments.
