GUWAHATI, Jan 14: The last rites of acclaimed singer Rajib Sadia was performed at his native village in Sadia with a sea of mourners bidding a tearful farewell to the singer who was known for his love for his motherland and raising issues of his native land and its people, its culture and traditions through his lyrical compositions.
Sadia had passed away at Dibrugarh’s Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) yesterday after collapsing on stage during a musical evening at Philobari in Tinsukia on Sunday night.
He was rushed to AMCH where he was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). However, despite best efforts of doctors to revive his health, he breathed his last yesterday afternoon.
Many people, including singers and music composers from upper Assam districts, paid their last tributes to Rajib Sadia while recalling his contributions to the Assamese music industry.

Meanwhile, the singer has left behind his wife and a seven-year-old son besides his parents while he was the main breadwinner of the family.
Many people associated with the Assamese music industry and others who know him and were close to him have appealed to the government to provide some sort of rehabilitation to his wife.
