Siddhartha Bhattacharyya distributes regularization letters to 500 GMC employees

GUWAHATI: Guwahati Development Department Minister and senior BJP leader Siddhartha Bhattacharya on Wednesday distributed regularization letters to 500 temporary workers of Guwahati Municipal Corporation(GMC) in a function held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati on Wednesday.

In the first phase, a total of 500 workers received their regularization letters.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhattacharyya said that the job of temporary workers will be regularised in a phased manner. 1,607 fourth-grade posts are lying vacant and 1,562 temporary workers are employed in the Guwahati Municipal Corporation.

The regularization letters have been distributed among 500 DWE, Fixed pay and Contractual employees. All these employees have been recently regularized under the first phase of regularization.

Guwahati MP Queen Ojha, West Guwahati MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita, Dispur MLA Atul Bora, Guwahati Development Department Additional Chief Secretary Maninder Singh, GMDA Vice President Mukuta Deka, Municipal Commissioner Devjyoti Hazarika and other dignitaries were present in the program.

It is to be mentioned that the Assam government has decided to regularise jobs of contractual workers of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation in three phases.
