SI Question paper leak: AGP leader involved in organising secret exam in Guwahati

PUBLISHED:

GUWAHATI: Assam Police investigations have revealed that a senior Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leader was involved in organising a secret exam a day before (19 September) the actual Assam Police Sub Inspector examination took place.

According to reports, this AGP leader was instrumental in getting a house in Sundarpur area of Guwahati where around 100 candidates took part in an examination prior to the actual written exam.

The name and details of this AGP leader has not been known so far even as the Assam Police investigation is on full swing to nab those behind this recruitment scam. AGP is a coalition partner in the Sarbananda Sonowal government in Assam.

A lot of documents related to the Assam Police sub-inspector examination were recovered from Thank You Lodge, Ganeshguri, Guwahati where another secret examination took place.

This clearly shows a nexus between certain elements of the police department and the ruling political parties of Assam. The whole question paper leak was organised and patronised by these elements.

An investigation team under GP Singh, ADGP Law and Order, Assam is underway and a number of persons have already been detained and a few arrests have been made.

The illegal nexus was at work not only in Guwahati but also in Kheroni of Karbi Anglong district of Assam. The police have arrested eleven persons in connection with this case.

It has come to light that the question papers were printed in one press of BJP youth leader Diban Deka who is also on the run. The main accused has been named as former Assam Police DG Prasanta Kumar Dutta who is also on run since Wednesday.

The Assam Police investigating team led by ADGP GP Singh raided a number of premises and properties of PK Dutta and have recovered documents related to the case. It is to be mentioned that the Assam Police Team recovered 8 kilos of Gold worth Rs. 3.5 crore from PK Dutta’s residence in Hengrabari, Guwahati.
