Guwahati: In a recent development in the Rajkanya Baruah hit and run case Guwahati luxury hotel Taj Vivanta has been issued the notice to unveil information within 24 hours about the event that was organised on the evening of October 1.

Kamrup Metropolitan administration has ordered the Hotel authorities to answer the timings of the party and details about the organisers and guests present on that evening.

It is to be noted that allegations have surfaced that the event continued till late night violating Covid-19 protocols and curfew timings.

This development has come after it was found that the former Miss India finalist was granted bail just within a day of arrest on Saturday for an offence that was non-bailable.

After Assam Police received severe criticisms across social media and on the instruction of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for a proper enquiry into the case, she was rearrested on Wednesday and has been sent to one day police custody on Thursday.

Baruah’s driving license has also been seized by the city police.

On Saturday night, the 29 year old allegedly knocked down eight PWD workers with her speeding car while driving in an “inebriated” condition in the city. Two policemen were also ‘closed’ to police reserve on Tuesday for allegedly not registering the case under proper sections of law.
