GUWAHATI: Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma reiterated his stand on Sunday saying that Congress MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed would be put behind bars for his controversial statement in the backdrop of the proposal to set up Miya Museum at Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati.
Sherman had made an absurd demand to preserve lungis at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra.
“We will send him to jail. He will not be allowed to come put easily,” Sarma said in Biswanath on Sunday.
The minister said that putting Sherman Ali Ahmed behind bars at this hour would give political benefits to the latter.
“If we send him to jail now, he will become hero. His motive is to get more votes in Baghbar and become the leader of the Miyas. We are not sending him to jail now because BJP will not do what he wants,” Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Earlier on Saturday, Dr. Sarma warned Sherman saying that he would be thrown to jail if he doesn’t apologise for his controversial statement.
