Sex racket busted in Barpeta town

GUWAHATI: Assam Police apprehended nine persons from Hotel Plaza in Barpeta town for allegedly running a sex racket.

The crackdown was led by Additional Superintendent of Police of Barpeta Samiran Baishya.

Nine persons including six girls, two men identified as Tapan Chandra Sarkar and Abdul Salam and the owner of the hotel Sudhir Karmakar were apprehended by police.

Meanwhile, police registered a case and produced all of the accused in Barpeta District and Sessions Judge Court yesterday.

While, court sent the six girls and the two men to judicial custody, the owner of the hotel Sudhir Karmakar is undergoing treatment at hospital after he became ill.

It has been alleged that Hotel Plaza in Barpeta town was running sex trade for a long time.
