Guwahati: Ahead of the Assam Legislative Assembly Election 2021, senior Congress leader and former minister Ajanta Neog is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah. As per reports, Shah is expected to visit Assam on 26 December.
As per reports, the Golaghat MLA had visited Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma recently in Guwahati. However, the decision in connection to her joining the saffron party is yet to be announced.
Reacting to the news of Neog joining BJP, Bokajan MLA, Numal Momin, said, “During the rainy season when the water becomes murkier people opt to choose mineral water and that’s what exactly is happening with Congress. The party has become murkier and BJP is the mineral water so the leaders are running towards BJP.”
Momin also added, “I feel, this time BJP is definitely going to win the coming elections. Congress’s days are gone as people know all the dirty politics they have played for all these years. The Congress leaders are not convinced with whatever is happening in the party, so it’s obvious that they are opting out and want to join the BJP.”
