There seems to be no let-up in crimes against women and children in Assam with more and more incidents of rapes and molestations being reported in the State. In another shocking incident, the semi-nude body of a 15-year-old girl, who was missing since the past four days, was recovered from Aarkatipur locality near Silchar in Cachar district.
The body of the girl, who villagers believe was gang raped and later murdered, was recovered near Chappanahal Tea Estate last night. Pieces of glass were also found near the body suggesting the involvement of 7-8 persons in the crime.

Police, meanwhile, arrested four persons in connection with the alleged rape and murder of the young girl amid reports of around another four youths likely to be involved in the crime.
Meanwhile, in another shocking incident, a married woman was allegedly raped by two persons at Lahorighat in Morigaon district Saturday night when she was alone in the house.
