GUWAHATI, Nov 24: Tezpur Police today recovered the semi-nude body of a girl from Salmora Baghchung locality in what is now being seen as another ghastly incident of rape and murder.
The 19-year-old girl, police said, was mentally challenged and was missing since Nov 10.
“The body of a young girl was spotted by some people inside a tea garden. Her clothes were strewn here and there. Police said she was missing since Nov 10. It appears that she was raped and murdered,” a resident of the locality said.
Tezpur Police said they have launched an investigation into the incident. No arrests, however, have yet been made.
