Second Kaliyug will start as a result of Congress-AIUDF friendship: Atul Bora

GUWAHATI: The friendship between Congress and AIUDF in Assam will create a second Kaliyug said AGP President Atul Bora. Speaking at Jatiya Oikyo Sanmilan (meeting) in Biswanath the AGP leader said, “The Congress and AIUDF are trying to form a new political party in Assam. AIUDF is a communal party and if these two capture Dispur then there won’t be any Assamese people or culture left. I urge the people of Assam to stay alert and away from these two.”

On the other hand, Atul Bora said that their friendship with BJP is a necessity as they cannot form a government on their own. The AGP with its 14 MLAs shares power with the BJP in Assam.

“We accept that we cannot win alone and form the government. So we have the friendship and this is not a new thing for us. Earlier, we even had alliance with CPIM, CPIML and this friendship with BJP is not a crime,” said Atul Bora.

As the Assam Assembly Election draws near there has been a surge of people joining the regional party. Buoyed by this, the AGP president said, “New blood is flowing into the party and it is a positive sign for us. We are going back to the people with a new fervour and commitment. AGP is a secular party and we have support and representation from all the segments of the Assamese society.”

AGP vice president and Assam minister, Keshab Mahanta who was also present in the meeting stated the role of AGP as a regional party in Assam. “AGP has been the flag bearer of regionalism for the past 35 years without failure. The party was born to serve the indigenous people of Assam. Though many other parties call themselves the regional force, but in true terms, it is only the AGP that has been serving the Assamese people,” said Mahanta.
