Scams worth Rs. 650 crore in four BTC districts alleges UPPL

GUWAHATI: For the past 17 years, the Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) looted public money and scams worth Rs. 650 crore took place in 4 districts under the Bodo Territorial Council (BTC) alleged Kamal Azad, Secretary UPPL at a public gathering in Dailungjhar village under Manas Serfung on Sunday. UPPL leader Pramod Boro was also present in the gathering along with other party members.

“BTC’s other name is MGNREGA scam. The BPF party has looted public money for the past 17 years. At least 650 crore rupees have been taken away from 4 districts. Officials of VCDC, GRS and many other BPF people of the area are involved in the scam,” said Kamal Azad, secretary, UPPL.

The main objective behind UPPL’s public meeting was to acquire more details regarding the job card scam in the area. Its village to village review has revealed various scams that took place in the name of Tree Plantation, Road Construction, Cremation ground development, Job Card scam, etc claims the party. 

According to UPPL, during the rule of Hagrama Mohilary, scams of at least 650 crore rupees under the MGNREGA scheme took place in the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD), now renamed as Bodoland Territorial Region(BTR). People from high level to ground level (VCDC) are associated with this scam, claim local people. 

People also informed that Cremation ground development works have also not been completed and the sanctioned money has been siphoned off without proper construction. BPF Panbari VCDC, former chairman Ranjan Bodo and GRS, Parbati Basumatary are associated with this scam said the party workers. Instead of providing job cards to local people, they gave job cards to people who were not from their area.

It is to be mentioned that, UPPL party has started the village to village review campaign led by Pramod Boro to bring out the various scams in the area.
