Saraswati Puja celebrated across Assam

Saraswati Puja was celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout the State, with revelry reaching its zenith today. Devotees thronged pandals seeking the blessing of the Goddess of Learning.

This year the Saraswati Puja is being celebrated on Thursday, January 26. The Pachami tithi  was from 6:10 AM to 11:36 AM.

This Year Saraswati Puja collided with Republic Day.

The schools, colleges and universities started their rituals for the puja after hoisting the national flag to celebrate Republic Day.

Schools, colleges and other educational institutions wore a festive and colourful look on the occasion as Saraswati Puja is mainly celebrated by students and teachers.

Saraswati idols in the school and college campuses were worshipped in the morning hours followed by distribution of Prasad, Khichdi, Bilai Tok (tomato chutney), Labra (seasonal mixed vegetables) and Payos (kheer).

Small pandals were also put up across the state where the people of the locality paid obeisance to the Goddess of Learning.

All the schools, colleges and education institutions in Guwahati, Udalguri, Tangla, Silchar, Karimganj, Hojai,  Tezpur, Jorhat, Dibrugarh celebrated Saraswati puja with great pomp and gaiety on Thursday.
