The RR vs KKR tie is the first match Guwahati hosted in this year’s edition of IPL
GUWAHATI, March 27: Fans left Barsapara Stadium after the RR vs KKR IPL match disappointed and dejected following Kolkata Knight Riders’s 8-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday night.
The Royals slumped to their second defeat in IPL 2025 after they lost their inaugural tie against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 44 runs on Sunday (March 23).
Rajasthan Royals, being captained by crowd favourite and Assam boy Riyan Parag, had hoped to end their second tie on a winning note but failed to put enough runs on the board after KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Defending a modest score of 151/9, the Royals failed to restrict KKR who won by 8 wickets with South African wicket-keeper batter Quinton de Kock slamming an unbeaten 61-ball 97.
“Disappointed with today’s results. The match didn’t go our way. Rajasthan Royals could not score enough runs and KKR chased down the target with ease,” Manash, a die-hard Rajasthan Royals and Riyan Parag fan, said after the match.
“But it’s okay. The tournament has only started. I am sure the team will bounce back stronger in the next match and win the games thereafter We will surely ‘Halla Bol’,” he added.
Many fans also rued Riyan failing to make a big score despite the start he had but said he will have his chances and given the talent he has, he will come good in the subsequent matches.
Riyan Parag made 25 runs off just 15 balls which included three massive sixes before miscuing the ball as he tried another big shot, gifting his wicket as he and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who made 29 runs from 24 balls, looked to accelerate the scoring after the dismissal of Sanju Samson.
