RPF of NF Railway also held 7 touts for illegal procurement of railway tickets
GUWAHATI, April 6: The Railway Protection Force or RPF of NF Railway has recovered contraband goods worth more than Rs 75 Lakhs during the month of March, 2025. RPF also apprehended 18 persons for alleged involvement in transportation of contraband/smuggled goods during this period, a release issued by NF Railway CPRO Kapinjal Kishore Sharma has stated.
RPF of NF Railway, the NFR CPRO stated, has been regularly conducting drives to control the menace of touts. In recently conducted checks and drives over the zone during the month of March, 2025, RPF apprehended 7 touts and recovered 32 railway tickets worth above Rs 99,000 from them, the NF Railway CPRO further stated.
RPF of Dimapur conducted a routine checking at Dimapur railway station on March 24 and apprehended one person while recovering 10.85 grams of Brown Sugar worth Rs 2.17 lakh (approx) from him. The apprehended person along with the recovered Brown Sugar was handed over to OC/GRP/Dimapur for necessary legal action.

In another incident on March 19, a joint team of RPF, CPDS and CIB conducted a raid and search operation at PRS Kanki.
During the raid, the team recovered 6 PRS tickets worth around Rs 24,365 and apprehended one tout in this connection.

A case was registered under section 143 of the Railways Act for further course of action, the release further stated.
