Row over threat to Meghalaya CM, case filed against United Bangal Liberation Army outfit

GUWAHATI: The Meghalaya Government has filed a criminal case against a shadowy outfit going around in the name of the United Bangal Liberation Army that has created a sensation by claiming that Meghalaya as well as the rest of the Northeast is a part of what they call as Bangal Bhumi.

The little known outfit came to light after it threatened to “wage war” against the Khasi Students Union and the indigenous people of Meghalaya.

A notification by the Meghalaya government stated that a case was registered against the United Bangal Liberation Army for criminal conspiracy, threatening to wage war against the local populace of Meghalaya and criminal intimidation against Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.

The case was registered with the cybercrime police station and an investigation is already underway regarding the matter.
