Ripun Bora appointed as president of TMC Assam unit

Guwahati: Former APCC President Ripun Bora, who recently jump-shipped to the Trinamool Congress has been appointed as the President of the Assam Unit of TMC by Mamata Banerjee on Saturday.

A notification issued by the TMC in this regard stated that the move has been made for the “furtherance and advancement of Assam” as envisaged by Banerjee.

The letter added, “The Chairperson is pleased to appoint Shri Ripun Bora (Ex-MP, Rajya Sabha & former Minister, Govt. of Assam) as the State President of AITC Assam unit with immediate effect.”

The TMC party in a Tweet wrote: “We are pleased to share that our chairperson Mamata Banerjee has appointed Ripun Bora as the state president of Trinamool Congress Assam unit.”

Elated over his appointment, Bora expressed his gratitude to the party high command for reposing faith in him and said he will continue to work for the betterment of the state.

Bora had recently resigned from the grand old party and in his resignation letter to Congress’ interim President Sonia Gandhi, he alleged that a section of Congress leaders in Assam are working clandestinely with the ruling BJP leaders and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Few days ago he also said that the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banarjee is the “most suitable” opposition candidate for Prime Minister’s post in the 2024 Lok Sabha General election because she is fighting alone aggressively against BJP.
