GUWAHATI: Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure Limited drilling superintendent Pranab Kumar Gogoi’s wife on Tuesday requested United Liberation Front of Asom—Independent(ULFA-I) chief Paresh Baruah for the immediate release of her husband.
Pranab along with Quippo’s radio operator Ram Kumar were kidnapped by armed militants on December 21 from a drilling location in Diyun under the Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Pranab Kumar Gogoi is a resident of Sivasagar in Assam and Ram Kumar is from Bihar.
Pranab’s wife requested United Liberation Front of Asom—Independent(ULFA-I) chief Paresh Baruah for the immediate release of her husband. “I request Paresh Baruah to release my husband or kill us. Our parents are sick and the children are not eating food. They have not even attended schools since the incident. Please, I request the Assam Government to take proper steps and immediately release my husband,” said Pranab’s wife.
“I have contacted Quippo officials, they informed me that they are talking and will take steps but till date, we have not received any information regarding my husband. I beg to Paresh Baruah for his release,” she added.
“I request the ULFA chief that he should immediately release our only son. We don’t know how he is, in what condition he is. He is the only earning person in our family. It has been hard here without our son. I also request the Assam Government to help release our son immediately,” said Pranab’s mother.
Earlier, talking to News Live chief managing editor Syed Zarir Hussain, ULFA (I) commander-in-chief Paresh Barua said Ram Kumar, one of the two abducted employees of the oil firm, could be harmed if the firm did not accept its demands. It is to be mentioned that ULFA-I has set a huge price in exchange for the release of the two employees.
