GUWAHATI, Feb 20: Rekha Gupta today (Feb 20) took oath as Chief Minister of Delhi at the Ramlila Maidan in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, other top party leaders and Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled States as the BJP made a return to power in the national capital after a 27-year hiatus.

The oath of office and secrecy was administered to Rekha Gupta, a first-time MLA who was named for the top post by the BJP leadership, by Lt Governor VK Saxena.

Rekha Gupta thus became the fourth woman Chief Minister of Delhi after Sushma Swaraj, Sheila Dikshit and AAP’s Atishi.

BJP’s giant killer Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, son of former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma, who defeated former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, also took oath as minister. He will be Deputy Chief Minister in the Rekha Gupta-led Delhi Government.

Besides Rekha Gupta and Parvesh Verma, five other BJP MLAs — Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra and Pankaj Kumar Singh — also took oath as ministers in today’s swearing-in ceremony.
