Bhadra Krishna Goswami passes away

Chief adviser and former president of Asom Satra Mahasabha Bhadra Krishna Goswami, also an eminent intellectual and litterateur, breathed his last at a private nursing home this morning (July 25). He was 86.

Goswami was suffering from age-related ailments and was undergoing treatment at the Apollo Hopsitals in Guwahati where he breathed his last around 6 am today.

Born at Charing Jakai Satra in Sivasagar district in 1933, he became a member of the Satra Sangha in 1964. Despite joining Indian Oil Corporation’s Assam Oil Division after his studies, he continued his active association with Satras. He was also the Sattradhikar of Jakai Satra.

Bhadra Krishna Goswami became the president of the Asom Satra Mahasabha in 2002 and later became its chief adviser.

His last rites were performed with full state honours at the Nabagraha crematorium in Guwahati.
