Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi Saturday called upon Haj pilgrims and coordinators for haj duty to impress Saudi Arabia about the good behaviour and services of the Indian community during the Haj.
He was speaking at a training programme for coordinators for haj duty, organized by Haj Division of the Ministry in New Delhi Saturday. Over 600 deputationists have been selected from across the nation to assist pilgrimage and represent India in Saudi Arabia.
The Minister said that for the first time after independence a whopping number of around 1 lakh 75 thousand pilgrims are going for Haj this year. Naqvi added that for the first time over 1300 female pilgrims are going without any custodian. The Minister added that even without subsidy for Haj this year, the Ministry has worked hard to negotiate with the airlines over airfares.
