Guwahati: Presenting Mr and Mrs Kapoor! Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor tied the knot with his actress girlfriend, Alia Bhatt at their Vastu residence in Bandra, early Thursday evening.
According to sources, the star couple, who has been in a relationship for over 5 years, took the plunge into a traditional Punjabi wedding ceremony. ‘Ralia’ as they are fondly called by fans, reportedly exchanged their vows and took their pheras, surrounded by their families and closest friends.
For the big day, guests arrived in colour co-ordinated outfits for the white and gold theme wedding. Immediate family members, including Neetu Kapoor, Soni Razdan, Shaheen Bhatt, Riddhima Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Rima Jain, Randhir Kapoor, Rahul Bhatt and even Karan Johar were seen dressed their best in shades of pink.
Their friends, on the other hand, stuck to the colour palette and arrived in shades of white and gold. Alia’s bestie and possible maid of honour, Akansha Ranjan looked lovely in a green saree as she arrived for the celebrations.
As the ceremony commenced indoors, members of Ranbir and Alia’s team were seen arriving distributing sweet boxes to members of the media who had assembled outside the gated complex.
While the ceremony was rumoured to be strictly a family affair, it was reported that over 50 guests marked their presence at the happy occasion.
Following complaints from the actors’ neighbours that “media invasion has been dangerous,” security measures were amped up outside the venue. Besides personal security, the police force and sniffer dogs were also spotted in the area.
Fans can expect to see Ranbir and Alia make their first appearance as husband and wife later this evening.
While the pre-wedding and nuptials were a private affair, Ranbir and Alia are expected to host a grand Bollywood-style reception at a 5-star hotel in the city. Everyone from Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh to Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal, their former co-stars, friends, and directors are all expected to be in attendance.
