GUWAHATI: Journalist cum activist Ajit Kumar Bhuyan is all set to contest Assam’s Rajya Sabha polls which will be held on March 26.
A representative on behalf of Bhuyan collected the nomination form from the principal secretary of the Assam Legislative Assembly today.
According to reports, Congress and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) are likely to announce Ajit Bhuyan as the consensus candidate for the third seat.
Participation in the anti-CAA movement has remained as one of the major yardsticks for Congress and AIUDF to choose their Rajya Sabha candidate. Journalist Ajit Kumar Bhuyan was in the forefront in the movement against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.
